You guys! I just had to tell you about this:

I was thinking about old Detroit buildings I love, famous and obscure, one night last month . I though that this house or that storefront may not matter to anyone else in the world, but it MATTERS to me.

"This would be a good bumper sticker." I thought. "This Place Matters". Then I thought that maybe not stuck on a car....but stuck on a building!

So I wrote to the National Trust for Historic Preservation with my idea. Tonight, I got an e-mail from them saying "go to this link", so I did AND LOOK:

I really had Detroit in mind when I thought of this, so if one of you guys actually won a camera or something with a hometown locale, I would be busting out proud of you. BTW: the sign could use a little pizzazz, dontcha think? But I'm a copywriter, not an artist. Not that I'm complaining................

Me? I'll be checking out the few remaining places in Houston built before 1960 that they haven't bulldozed into oblivion...yet. Oh, yeah, it was 101 degrees here today. How YOU doin'?

And to all the advertising agencies who wouldn't hire me back in Detroit.....Nah, Nah, Nah.
