Anybody know what is going on with the building at Daves? Saw contractors working on it today. Total rehab!

'Bout time; Dave's was a cozy, old school diner, where the old timers from Hastings, Black Bottom, Paradise Valley, Sugar Hill - and just folks on breakfast and lunch break - came for some of the best soul-food and greasy-spoon fare in town.
Hope it reopens and is something nice.

I believe it closed [[the first time, wayback in 2001.) When I was store manager at Hitsville USA's "Shop Around', they had the best food period. Extra helpings of sides, but the short ribs made me want to move inside a cow, they were that good.
It closed a couple years ago. Dave Rice passed away about 3 months ago. He was too young.
Also, Dave's used to be called the Piquette Diner.
Here's new news:

Awesome news. Bucharest Grill has good food.
A few photos from September 2007
Nice pics. That's about how I remember it.
At first I was surprised, but then I remembered there will be a light-rail station at the end of the block.
