Sounds like ESPN was impressed. Their flight was delayed so they showed up a bit later, which was great because the party was in full swing.

After visiting possible venues around downtown Detroit Tuesday, ESPN officials said they were impressed by the city's bid."It was a great day," said Deane Swanson, ESPN's senior director of content strategy for the X Games. "We saw some great venues, some really good options for the X Games."

Kevin Krease and Garret Koehler, the organizers for the local bid, showed 15 ESPN officials around the city Tuesday and tried to make a strong impression with their grassroots campaign.
In addition to visits to Ford Field and Joe Louis Arena, the officials met with Bud Denker, senior vice president of the Penske Corporation, at the Belle Isle Grand Prix and Dan Gilbert, founder and chairman of Quicken Loans, at the Madison Building.
Then, to cap the night, ESPN's team stopped at a raucous party at Campus Martius with nearly 5,000 people, Krease said.
"It's just so impressive," Swanson said at the party. "The fact that this event was pulled together in a short amount of time, it shows the amount of passion this city has for hosting the event."
