Seems we can't get fit enough...perhaps only the leaner and meaner amongst us are bailing the state?!

So our great state of Michigan is fatter than Germany! YAY we can thank that process poop we eat!
So much for the destitute nature of poverty in America.
We need to stop eating processed foods and return to natural, unprocessed foods and quit super sizing our meals.
The dollar menus aren't really that affordable. You can't grow McDonald's double cheeseburgers in your backyard. Even those who live in Downtown Detroit apartments have better options. Have you ever been to Eastern Market? There produce is pretty cheap.
Hell, you can go to Kroger's and get apples for 89 cents a pound and frozen vegetables packets that serve four at 10 for $10. I think on a pound for pound basis, you can get a steak for what McDonald's charges for a Big Mac. I'd rather have a package of brocolli than dog meat and a day old slice of pickle smashed between two pieces of nasty white bread. How much can a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a glass of milk and a sliced apple cost these days? A hell of alot less than a value meal.
Keep a budget and eat fast food for a week and grocery food for a week and see what your budget says. I'm talking about getting the bread and meat and rice and pasta and fruits and vegetables on sale, not the funyons and M and M's and microwave entrees and rice-a-roni.

Which Kroger's?
Nutritionally speaking, frozen vegs are almost as good as fresh and can be found cheap. I've seen Birdseye brand in the Dollar Store.
We have to stop subsidizing junk. http://www.michaelpollan.com/article.php?id=89
"...Americans have begun to ask why the farm bill is subsidizing high-fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils at a time when rates of diabetes and obesity among children are soaring..."
Don't believe that "organic BS" It is costly for no good reason and affordable nutritional foods [[grains, vegetables, protein, etc) are very readily available.
If it were simple a matter of McDonalds being too affordable, then poor countries would be able to afford it, and we would see McDonalds galore in Ethiopia with chubby kids as opposed to starving children there. It [[McDonalds and the like) isn't more affordable than sustenance level food stuffs, not by a long shot.
