Gistok, all tires were white then because that is the color of natural rubber. Later on the addition of carbon to tires made them more durable and of course, turned them black. An owner would have been lucky to get 2000 miles on a set of tires then.
Thanks 56.... that explains another thing... the maker of more tires than any other company in the world... LEGO... introduced wheels/tires in 1962... and that explains the color tires they were first produced in... white...
