A godforsaken hellhole of undying hatred, divisiveness, the uneducated, the bigoted; endless sprawl and decaying cities. That's pure Michissippi.

Then the assholes who made, supported, or agree with this video suddenly are "from Detroit" when they go on vacation or the Tigers win.

You can keep your glorious Oakland County, along with your retarded slap-happy youtube videos that get pulled for copyright infringement. Get me the fuck out of here.

"If you really think Detroit is "overspending" you are totally delusional."

No offense man, but you really need to read a few more articles.

They've pulled the ad; more correctly, they pulled the pin on a hand grenade and threw it into a pool of gasoline.

The ad is just maddening because it is so unnecessary. It is a tactical error based on a flawed strategy. Or in other words, a bad idea, poorly executed.

The asshats behind this garbage should be shown the door. Bobby Schostak is toast. F.U. buddy. You are poor example of leadership.

Yeah right. Like they don't love this shit. They're poised to elect Kerry Bentivolio for chrissake.

The Kerry Bentivolio thing is a complete one off. He wouldn't be a part of any discussion if Thad McCotter's staffers had not been total doofi.

[[BTW Thad is in court today testifying against his staffers.)

It is important not to conflate divergent events with a pre-set conclusion in mind PB.

The facts on hand lead one to conclude that Bobby Schostak is in a power struggle with the moderate wing of the Republican Party. As much as it may hurt, the truth is that L. Brooks, is a moderate. Many folks will brissel at that reality, but that is the truth. Rick Snyder is also a moderate.

Bobby Schostak is not a moderate. He is a backer of national committeeman Dave Agema, who is a Koche brothers conservative and a little to the right of Curtis LeMay.

But Kerry Bentivolio is a one off. He is slightly unhinged and if he wins, you can count it to the same phenomena that keeps getting John Conyers elected: Some people would rather eat dirt than vote outside their party.

The truth is that unreasonable people vote. They can't be reasoned with, they can't see logic, they only know what they know and they refuse to break from convention. For that reason, Jesse Jackson Jr. in Chicago will get re-elected even though he is under a doctor's care and unable to function on the campaign trail, let alone in the House.

Conyers is just bad for Detroit and has been for at least a decade, but he will get voted into office, because unreasoning people vote. In droves.

If Bentivolio gets elected, which I doubt, it will not be because of some great plan by Bobby Schostak, it will be because unreasoning people vote.

That is the truth. That is also why - originally - only landowners could vote, because it was assumed that those men could read, had gone to school and were more likely to vote with logic and reason. Of course, logic proven wrong, doesn't mean it isn't correct, it just means that men aren't logical.

It's amazing how if your neighbor's home is on fire and you send nothing but laughs and gasoline, your own home has a good chance of catching fire.

I'm sure that is exactly what the far right Repubs were thinking when they aired this ad. Contrary to popular belief, there are Republicans in Detroit, although they are certainly a minority.

What they forget is that there are a lot of Democrats and Independents in Oakland County, many who do not hate Detroit, and would really like to see things improve in the city. This type of anti-Detroit ad isn't going to turn Democrats and Independents into supporters of the Republican Party. If anything, it will cause them to be less likely to support Republicans.

    Yep.

And after sending nothing but laughs and gasoline which only allowed the fire to grow into a blazing inferno and you then realize the flames are beginning to spread elsewhere, you can't just spit on it and not expect it to spread over to your home.

Democrat 101 - If a message offends because it's true; destroy the message.

I m quite sure in the Republican fashion of recent that after the the election is done they will come out with some sort of statement saying the ad was misunderstood and not meant to cause any malicious damage to Detroit or the region. It seems to be their motus operandi for everything lately. but the damage , very intentionally, will already have been done. This had been the strategy for long time now. Yes, if they cared about the city and region they would not air an ad like that, but, their interests at the present time have nothing to do with that. Your best way to combat against this behavior is to vote against them in November. If a Republican president is elected, this area should expect little or no support. Romney has no loyalty to Detroit or its areas.

Like the Big Windy is any better. They have their share of problems too, like a murder rate that's just as bad as Detroit, granted it's much bigger.

Disappointing ad. Wish times would get a bit better for the city. Too bad a lot of town has become so hostile, can you expect anything else with constant continual disinvestment. GOP is all about the money
