I dunno if Chuck Joe had any direct connections with Giacalone and family, but the prices were right and the chow just great. Piano bar was excellent. Besides, organized crime never bothered me much. It was the unorganized shit that drove me crazy.

That should almost go in a book of quotes. Good one.

What about the collection of clubs that once were all based in the now tumble weeded warehouse area? The Warehouse, Club Taboo, the Rhino, and the Tangerine Room/River Place?

I remember chicks suckin' on balloons and makin' out on stage at the Red Door while Jonny Bravo played three feet away from them. Every time I walk into Avalon it brings back really fun memories, most of them blurred.

Wow, I completely forgot about those clubs...the Warehouse and Taboo were especially jumping, and of course the Rhino was the perfect after work spot as well as a great evening destination for dinner and light jazz.

L'Esprit, Lafayette Orleans and Piper's Alley at Edison Plaza were cool spots in the 70s and 80s too.
