Did W Bush steer contracts and business to Texas-based companies? One other question....from what I understand Houston was the place to be in the early 80s then it crashed and became a ghost town for years. How come it took so long for it to rise again?

I'm sure Bush steered stuff to his friends. As a businessman he steered Harken Energy from a $12 stock to 25 cents. He also made the City of Arlington fund his baseball stadium.

Houston suffered/suffers from pollution, crime [[ok not Detroit type of crime) and the influx of Katrina people who were homeless. Hurricanes didn't help. I'm biased - I detest GW Bush and Houston is nasty and ugly compared to the portion of the Texas Coast where I live.
