I always remembered this house as a kid when we went to my Grandparents house. I finally found it on Google Maps. Does anyone know the story behind this house? It always stood out, even back in the 60's and it still looks like it is well maintained.

It looks like the builder was a Mason who built churches around town, and took home material every day from the job...like Johnny Cash's famous Cadillac. He got it one brick at a time, and it didn't cost him a dime...
the owner who built it grew up in the U.P. He had the door above the main door put in because he was concerned that drifting snow would trap him in the home for weeks at a time.
