Witnesses said several people were attending a social event when the suspect, identified as a 36-year-old male, became upset and started shooting. Two men were killed, two others were wounded.
The suspect drove away. The men who died have been identified only as a 23-year-old and a 37-year-old. A 34-year-old man and a 19-year-old are listed in serious condition. Police said about two hours after the shooting the suspect went to a Detroit Fire Engine Station and said he was connected to the shooting.
Fire officials contacted police, but were told because area patrol units were busy "handling high priority runs, no units were dispatched to the location." During the delay, the suspect left the fire station and went to the 10th Police Precinct, where he was taken into custody.
