I don't blame the businesses who have these kinds of protection. In most cases, I'm sure that their insurance companies require them to be installed. No, I don't like them, but I understand why they are there.

Every business owner, be it a bank, store, gas station or whatever, has to protect their merchandise, property and employees. Insurance auditors will come and view the property and make safety recommendations. If the owners do not follow the recommendations, the insurance companies can either refuse to insure them, or deny a claim that stems from the lack of one of those protections.

It is sad that the world has come to this, but it is a fact of life now.
