They're everywhere. Is this was a coup d'etat is like?
They're everywhere. Is this was a coup d'etat is like?
You need a wider angle lens, Chief!
Even Sarge is checking in...
We're seeing a bit of that already.
They took two kids around the backside of the bus, so those of us in the high-rises couldn't see them do their throttling.
This is SO much bullshit.
I went down to street level, and witnessed three innocent young ladies get surrounded by SEVEN cops. They kept asking, "How old are you?"
Next thing we knew, they all got zip-tied and escorted to the corral.
This is an outrage. ONE of our entire group...of thirty people or more...even knew about the curfew. I consider myself pretty well-informed, and I heard nothing.
What of those who don't own a television, or only listen to music off their phones and iPods...it is discrimination at its worst.
Akin to towing cars because they were getting broken into.
More I consider it, the angrier I get. I'm trying really hard to not ruin the party atmosphere up here...but seeing it all develop just strikes my core.
It is unethical. It is wrong to arrest and detain someone for the fucking crime of showing up at a public event. They should merely have gotten tickets.
At best. This action by the police will cause a riot, I can feel it stirring at street level. I am glad I was able to get away from it, this feels as toxic as it was six years ago when all those people were shot.
Nobody remembers the 200-300 person riot one block off Jefferson on Woodward that same night...it feels the similar tonight. I was trying to forget that old memory.
No cheers...and I'm getting increasingly upset with your pollyannish joking, Lowell.

Something just happened. There is a stampede out of Hart Plaza right now.
Something caused everyone between the Pyramid Stage and the Fountain to bolt in fear, easily two to three hundred people scattered...
Two taken out on stretchers...dunno...everything is booming now.
This whole show is like previous years Finale's...amazing. Best Fireworks Ever.
Damn shame they have to be juxtaposed by the bullshit at street level.
There is a huge exodus from Hart Plaza right now...all calm...but it seems everyone is leaving. This is too strange...
Only way they could top this would be nuclear.
They must've shut down Hart Plaza...everyone is leaving. That sucks. They are missing the show they came down early to see.
Fucking cops have THREE buses waiting.
They are too chicken to bring back the official paddy bus...and must use D-DOT ones instead. Oddly, they all look like the newer ones.
LOL, Lowell is cracking me up tonight. I think he's had a couple!
I would have loved to of gone downtown tonight but I took the family to some weird town in Maine where half the people speak French.
it may just be that people are leaving to avoid the traffic if they have been there all day??? I saw that the one time I was there...
No offense but this is a weird thread but the information is fun to read. I get the feeling you are in the corner up high in some building with binoculars, a smart phone, and this is your captain's log of the evening's events. A different perspective than usual but more entertaining than watching the fireworks on TV actually. Always thought it was pointless to watch fireworks on TV, kind of need to be there to feel it.
Happily, two of the buses left empty. I wonder how bummed they are they couldn't fill the fuckers up.
I am still pissed.
The exodus from the Plaza was not a full evacuation, a crazy amount of people are STILL streaming out of it...but thousands left DURING the show for some reason. Not buying the leaving early suggestion...some of 'em didn't look happy about it.
Weird thread, for sure...sorry for the play-by-play. I am indeed in the corner of the old ANR building, but will refrain from saying where to maintain my girlfriend's anonymity. She has enough grief from my spouting on this board.
Cheers

Somebody get ahold of Fish... Detective Fish. He can traverse high buildings in two steps.
Ummm perhaps a 'senior moment' but what/ where is the Berry Sub?
That's what I said to the woman beside me on the bus comin' down. I already knew the entrance streets to the Berry Sub were shut down...having driven by an hour earlier, after dropping off the food and beer for our party.
TEN cops shutting down the Mayor's neighborhood. I'm sure there are more by the Boogian Mansion. too.
I watched it on the tube as I did last year. Not the same as being there but the colors were fantastic [[peach, plum and oranges) and I could hear a bit of the rumble thru my window up here by West Grand Blvd.
Yeah it was like two finales and lots of pastels this year. I put on the surround sound on the tube and it was loud and way cool even that way...

Oh snap! Hmmm, despite the new colors and longer firework bang-booms 'zipties' for bracelets and DOT busess to paddy-wagons where at the ready 6:01 PM ala the curfue! No later I am hearing from friends who ventured down there.
Sounds like some money made here! I am a news hound and I did not get curfue announcement! It should have been announced all weekend leading up to this event. I suppose the parking enforcement cadre was on a mission to.

They shut down Broadway south of Grand River. Kinda cool - my son and I were able to play catch in the middle of Broadway, before the fireworks.
