Detroit's architectural history nothing short of amazing. Other cities wish they had Detroit's architecture.
Hopefully the remainder of it can be reclaimed and used again.
We are finally appreciating how fortunate we are ,by the for-site of passed Detroiters.
Other cities were envious of Detroit amazing architectural, and soon they will be again, just wait.
Detroit isn't done , showing off her goods and she still has a LOT to show off.
I can't wait to see what she has in store for us !

BRILLIANT! Always wondered where that photo of Henry B. Joy and Fred Alger was taken.

Any idea when the home was demo'ed?

My grandparents, and the family of one of my aunts and several cousins, lived on either side of these houses. One of my cousins still owns a house further down this street. I remember walking by them many times and noting from their unusual profile that it was obvious they had been built as a matched set. But I never realized they were Sears catalog homes. Very interesting history.

One of the buildings on Ilitch's hatchet list in the proposed Cass Park Historic District. I have tried several times in the last week to contact the Historic District Advisory Board but not only was the person I needed to contact unavailable every time I called [[which is what I expected), I was unable to leave a message as their inbox was full. I have a feeling the leadership of the board is not very effective. The façade of the building is all that is left. but would make for a interesting project though.
