Liking the Burrowes thread P69! Great collection of early material. Have you seen any early published docs re 1710 Seminole? Curious about what the roof might have been clad in.
I do not have any early info on 1710.

I always wondered about how certain architects had so many designs featured on one street or one development. Were they contracted by the land developers? Seems like Palmer Woods had that as well as Beverly in GP and elsewhere. Did the architects like Burrowes and Marr have relationships or agreements with banks and land developers?
BTW, have any info on Trwobridge and Ackerman's work in the area? I know they were in NYC, but I think Trowbride was originally from Detroit.
121 Merriweather has very interesting landscape. Really has the comfortable look of a cottage in the woods.

The 3 homes in Grosse Pointe the firm designed for Dexter M. Ferry Jr., Truman H. Newberry, and L. Stephen Trowbridge [[Alexander Trowbridge's brother) have all been razed. The Grosse Pointe Historical Socitey has a little info on the Ferry mansion on their website and a reprint of an article on the Newberry mansion. I think that article has been discussed here. The Hawkins Ferry book includes info on all three. Beyond that I do not have much on the firm and their work here.
A relative unknown Lyle Zisler. I was very impressed with his personal home at 641 South Oxford.

While chatting with my wife recently and remarked that a good friend's childhood home had been designed by John Pottle. My wife then blurts out that he had been a very good friend of her father. I just find this out after 20 years of marriage.

Just for Neilr. I found these images of the Lemuel Bowan mansion located at 5435 Woodward Avenue and built in 1912. One of my favorite George Mason designs and one of the 5 remaining Woodward mansions. To me, the Beecher House is a true Detroit jewel. It is one of the only 5 Woodward Avenue mansions still standing.
If you've never been inside, it's well worth a visit. The stairwell window is by Tiffany.
Here's a selection of pictures [[not mine) posted on Flickr.

Is there a 6th Woodward house? At the south east corner of Ferry and Woodward there is a parking garage that blocks the front of a house, I think taking up its front yard. Its the first house on the south side of Ferry. I don't have a photo of it, but do have one of its coach house behind [[to the east).

Looks like they were in competition to see how many different architectural styles could be incorporated into one house. Which kinda makes it neat in its own way.
St. Columba's Parish Building is well known eastside landmark along with its now razed twin on the westside. I have been driving by the building in the image for many years. While doing a little research on another building I ran across the information on this terrific building. First to build a Parish Building was Epiphany Episcopal Church followed by St. Columba constructing a similar style building a few years later in 1923. SHG did the design work for Epiphany.
