I think I had a request for information on 1710 Seminole. The home has been discussed here before if I remember correctly. All I have is the original owner was Paul R. Gray [[1867-1929), the home cost approx. $11,000.00 to build in 1910 and its pre-1921 address was 336 Seminole. His mother [[Anna Hayward Gray) lived at 961 Burns and his sister [[Alice Gray Kales) lived at 971 and 1730 Burns. Of course the architect is Marcus Burrowes.
Ironically the Sanders plant at 100 Oakman, mentioned at the begining of this thread, is currently going up in flames.

More Hosmer. Love how it is on axis with the street.
Nice - Very similar! And amazingly different re condition. What's up with LaSalle and area - decimated. Might try to revive that thread.
Me too - Go Inn on Ferry! One of my favorite homes in the city by Malcomson & Higginbotham. The home's original owner is William A. Pungs, founder of Pung's-Finch Auto and Gas Engine Company. In 1906 the company introduced a limited roadster with an engine using a Hemispherical Combustion Chamber 45 years before Chysler supposedly "invented" the Hemi. If you are interested there are very good images of the only Limited in existance on the net just use a good search engine.
60 East Ferry Avenue built in 1891 East Ferry Historic District Detroit, MI.
I really like this one. I like the way architects up until the war could humbly use historical vocabulary to produce unique and powerful buildings with modern technology and materials. The postwar years brought us the Blah school of architecture as far as I am concerned. I started looking at selling my house in the suburbs to buy an old house in the city, probably built between the 1880's to 1910's.
Thanks, p69rrh51, for this Kamper reference. I had not come across this during past research on him.
YW! He has always been one of my favorites. A good friend I have known for a few years and were chatting about Detroit architecture and she just happens to mention that Kamper is her great uncle [[I was thinking you know what I have been doing for awhile and you are just tell me this). Since then I have been trying to find as much as I can about him.
