I was told this was given to corporate and civic VIPs at the opening ceremonies of the Renaissance Center on April 15, 1977, but have not been able to find anything on it on the Internet.
It's a framed bronze medall in a custom frame with glass on the front and back side of the coin [[although it is clear glued to the back glass).
The medal has the 4 tower Renaissance Center on the front, and the Spirit of Detroit on the back.
The writing on the front states... "DETROIT RENAISSANCE - MONUMENT TO MOVEMENT".
The writing [[smaller) on the back states... "THE SPIRIT OF DETROIT EXPRESSES ITS' FAITH IN ITS PEOPLE AND HUMANITY" and "THE RENAISSANCE CENTER EXPRESSES THIS BELIEF".
The custom frame has an industrial design look to it in gold and black wood. The only flaw is that it may have fallen off the wall once, and the corners have some missing paint and minor damage [[see 1st pic). But a black magic marker can completely hide this, so that it makes for a nice usable VIP memento of Detroit.
Asking $29.
