Sigh..what is the definition of critical in this context? What about either word's definition, individually or collectively, is not innate?

I posted a slew of genuine definitions of critical thinking, in case you forgot, all of which support CT as a result of training, not as an ability we are born with. too bad you get a little bee in your bonnet and try to switch what the discussion is every time you are shown to be wrong, which is virtually every day on almost every subject

Start there to learn from this exercise....here is a clue to success in the form of a Socratic fill in the blank:

You should use your....blank....to grasp this concept.

Funny how this conversation has vied away from an important little revolution...

True..a revolution viciously and violently suppressed by the tyrants in Iran. And far worse, violence supported by Obama and largely ignored by the liberal media at Obama's implicit instructions.....sickening.

if you talk to anyone who has a clue on the subject knows that if he had taken a "McCainian stand more people would have died. This is overwhelmingly from the Irianian expats [[have you ever talked to any?) ..Obama has done exactly what the tyrants didnt want...he showed support with restraint.
what partof not linking "Their" revolution to our politics don't you understand?

Evidently he doesn't understand that: 1) we don't run the world, even though the conservatives think we do and should and 2) posturing--which is all it would amount to--on our part provides Tehran with a perfect opening to blame it all on the Great American Satan and use that as a justification to crack down even harder.

If the North Koreans can keep to South Korean American journalists in a communist brainwash gulag for 12 years, I'm sure that Iranians will keep on a couple of American hikers in their gulags for years to come. Only diplomacy can free them now in which the Iranian people with their Islamic Pope don't practice.

We some commandos to bust those American tourists out.

Um, I don't know how old you are or how far back you remember, but commando rescue missions to snatch American hostages out of Iran haven't had such a good track record...

Wow. Has anyone else been watching this story?
It's amazing that in some places of the world, people are still acting like barbarians.
Iran likes to party like its AD 999

The execution of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, 43, who has already spent five years in prison and received 99 lashes for alleged adultery, would "disgust and appall the watching world," the British Government declared, according to a report Thursday in U.K. newspaper The Times.

Amnesty International via AP Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a mother of two, who is facing the punishment of stoning to death in Iran, on charges of adultery.

If we beat, jailed and killed everyone in the US that committed adultery, the jails would be overlfowing, the whips would be cracking, and we'd have have to dig mass graves! This is like something out of a Twilight Zone episode.
And these are the same folks we are supposed to be comfy with wielding nuclear technology....

wow... while I agree that this is repulsive and demonstrates what happens when the right extremists wins in any fundamentalist relgious takeover...I find it interesting that the neocons are still not supporting the idea of empowering the millions of Iranians wanting to end the terror in their own way....and how they are fighting for their freedoms...just like we say they should..where is the support for them in the papers...not realizing that this feeds right into the paranoia of Iranian leaders.

here is a prediction..the neocons are drumming up rational to let Israel take out Iran or attack Hezbollah as a preemptive strike in Lebanon...BIBI and his war mongering neocons are drumming up business very hard ...just like the build up to Iraq.... Remember the Saddam pays suicide bombers [[concerns,,,etc..) ...well BIBI came here and gets Obama to bend over...thanks to the AIPAC supporters in congress...and suddenly Hezbollah is being warned again [[the world is being prepared)...Israel is spoiling for a conflict in the region whether with Syria or Iran. And the lunatics in charge of those countries are suckers for a punch...the problem is that Lebanon will feel the cluster bombs and theinfra structure destruction of that happens...for some reason they always get the blunt of the proxy wars...conspiracy theory or reality..time will tell...but rest assured the war drums are building ..a typical distraction from the real issues..for all countries involved...but leave to our neocon buddies in the press etc..to start painting the pictures again of how easy it is to go after those real bad Arabs and Persians. when they should be going after the people and policies that create this mess... Funny how we had a three sixty...after democractic pressure on Obama and how smuge BIBI is ...parading around offering direct talks while his bad cop partner is building settlemenst and druming up rational to draw us into further conflict...this is Iraq all over again...becuase BIBI wants to prove he is in a bad neigborhood and that we Americans can't connect the dots...well every time Likud?labor screws around and gets their hands slapped many people die.. yes they live in a tough neighborhood that calls for it's destruction...and we should help them to a degree...but that would be by forcing them to accpet a real two state solution and practice democracy for all it's citiznes, as well as stop lying to us [[BIBI...saying he wants direct talks and not extending settlement freezes)

The only solution is to change the paradigm and give Israeli's left a chance...we can't do it here AIPAC owns the right and the left and JSTREET is two small of a player yet...

NeoCons of the left and right. You hear very little if anything at all every time there is a demonstration or uprising out of the White House. The last thing our country needs is to go to war in another Middle Eastern country. The intelligent thing to do would be to legitimize the uprisings in Iran, and let nature take its' course there.

absolutely correct on that..and your right...my friends who are in constant contact with Iran are saying the same thing...they will eventually take care of it...the first revolution took years to brew..Israel has time and they know it...and besides...we don't need no more destractions on what is as important over there.

Some interesting news today from the UN:

9/11 words by Iran leader lead to U.S. walkout at U.N.

U.S.: Ahmadinejad 'delusional' for citing those who believe U.S. was behind attacks

The U.S. and European delegations walked out of the U.N. speech of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday after he said most people believe the U.S. government was behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks in order to assure Israel's survival.
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39331594/ns/world_news
Speaking at the United Nations, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that the breakdown in world governance can be traced to the U.S. plot behind 9/11, the occupation of Palestine and an incorrect outlook on nuclear energy.

People involved in the arts still are the voices of dissent. Maybe that's why the Republicans cut funding to the arts every chance they get.

The story is about a pair or musicians who create a group which includes rappers. It features the music of "Take It Easy Hospital". Very interesting rap video which I can't find on youtube. Warner Music may own it.

"...Bahman Ghobadi’s latest work, “No One Knows About Persian Cats,” is banned in Iran but is being passed around for free, offering a searing portrait of life through the prism of a vibrant underground music scene. The movie has songs with lyrics like these: 'This is Tehran, a city where everything you see entices you, entices your soul till you realize that you are not human, just trash.'...'
