Heard it yesterday, and it merely indicates once again that, despite what some may say, the election of our first black President does not mean we are in a post-racial society.
This thread needs a visual: Louis Ortiz.
I only bring this up, since it came back to me a few weeks ago and it still bothers me.
While I was hiking through rural Wisconsin [[about three years ago), I ended up at a Walmarts [[uh-oh). I spied a magazine in the "book" [[if you want to call it that) section that attempted to appeal to gun-owners by meshing in the popularity of zombies and zombie hunting. The whole magazine, in fact, was mostly illustrated [[except for the firearm items they were cataloging and promoting) in a stark horror-splatter comic manner. The "zombies" were depicted as having grey and purple-ish skin, without pupils, and the other attributes were clearly non-white. They appeared either Latino or African American in the facial features [[Afro-styled hair, wide-nose, protrusive ears, etc.). The larger id-entrenched drippy horror text on separate pages would read "THEY'RE TAKING OVER YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD!-THEY'RE COMING FOR YOUR FAMILY!" or the obvious "THEY'VE TAKEN OVER OUR NATION'S CAPITOL!". The racist implication were very obvious and pissed me off.
For those who would doubt me on this, it becomes one of those incidences where I wish I had purchased and held onto the evidence [[like the Strawberry-Kiwi Fruitopia bottle with cochineal on the ingredients back in 1999 or the memo the Majestic Theater put out in 1997 warning about drink tamperings at "other bars"). Anyway, it motivated me to look it up online, and this is the closest I've come [[and I can't be sure if this was the same company that put this magazine out). http://www.msnbc.com/politicsnation/obama-the-zombieYeahh, clear effigism there [[like "Rev." Terry Jones)-get it? "Rocky"-as in "Bar-Rocky". Also this http://www.progressive.org/news/2013...ie-gun-productAnd [[voodoo/Mardi Gras?) this-http://www.salon.com/2013/04/01/bra_..._you_shoot_it/Also, there was this good article criticizing the mentality behind all of this.http://www.salon.com/2013/02/21/why_...mbies_partner/
