It seems to me that we are in a political transion in our country..and like in many transitions the concepts and approaches two parties have evolved a lot since the 1800's...however, hate is hate and it dwells in many levels and in many forms in all political parties [[so I do agree onesided finger pointing is unbalanced at times)..the question we have to ask ourselves is what are we doing to stop it in our own sphere of influence...listening to right wing or extreme left wing anarchists..can fuel either thoughtless anger or unconditional acceptance [[like some of the forum members ...ummm Randian worshippers...)

what it does to unstable minds should be left up to the Psychologists to sort out..but in reality we need to recognize that it can inflame unstable minds that really want to hear the rhetoric..in fact many of my collegues are seeing an increase of hate speech [[political) in our sessions with highly unstable people ..so please don't even try to dodge the issue that hate doesnt breed hate.

With any luck the two extremes will kill each other off, leaving some job openings for the happy, moderate, middle.

Anyone who quotes Jonah Goldberg might as well be quoting Slush Grimball.

No greater a political stool softener ever took pen to paper.

Goldberg's premise that "liberal fascism" exists is like saying up is down, and black is white.

Typical shape shifting repugnican nutsack, always trying to change the meaning of words to suit their own political agenda. This is the new norm in fascist right wing politics in this country.

Now dumbasses like Glenda Speck, the sobbing dry-drunk rodeo clown of the Repugnican Reich now say, as do others, that this 88 year old freak who shot up the Holocaust Museum was a liberal!

    LOL!!!!

I can understand not wanting to be associated with this particular brand of fascist freak, but you've got to call em' like you see em'.

Sorry Glenda, you're ideologically aligned with this Van Brunn character, and there's no escaping it!

Lorax- Can't you make a post without insulting people and calling them names? Most of the members of these forums make intelligent , litterate posts. At least try to use spell check and act intelligent. Your shits old . Nothing personal just a little friendly critique

It is cognitive dissonance that brings this reaction out in liberals like Lorax [[and David Letterman recently). They simply can't reconcile their positions on issues with the fact that the right answers are the opposite of theirs...so, they abandon rational thought, deny the reality hitting them in the face, and become hostile.

Actually Lorax comes up with some insightful, thoughtful posts. He's just engaging us with some literary hyperbole to mix things up and keep us entertained

Beautiful illustration of cognitive dissonance in your post #33 Lorax...if only we could frame it for future reference.

This has been a message from the Party's Central office.
    Enjoy your day Comrades.
At last you admit your true colors... Communist. Or is it Fascist? Either way...

You have no persuasive arguments. Go back to your puppetmasters and admit that you have failed. When will you come up with something that is more adult and grounded in reality?

Now I wonder why that sounds familiar?
Did I ever say that the Dems are saviors? No. They are men and women, just like anyone else.

You equate the left to Communism, for some reason. God knows why.

I'd love to hear why you feel that way, but I'm sure that I'd rather be lied to by someone with some sort of knowledge of the subject, at least.

You seem to have it in your head to continually butt heads with me and thats ok.
    Ill educate you another time.
that will have to wait for another day. Im off to the Puerto Rican day parade.

    Later Comrades
I'm more than capable of making my own judgements on history without somebody telling me what to think. I actually had professors that were quite conservative. And truly, I can see some arguments that may support SOME of your efforts here. However, you seem to feel that spewing hate here is some kind of free ride, that no one will check you on it. That's why I respond.

    Have fun at your parade...

Freeforall needs to come here to Miami and participate in some of the Cuban Pride activities on Calle Ocho- he'd find many simpaticos there, where all the restaurants have worshipful photos of Ronald Reagan, George Bush and other fascists hanging about.

But even that tide is turning, our senator Mel Martinez is quitting, since he's at least smart enough to see the writing on the wall. The old guard of Cuban Repugnicans are dying off and being replaced by a more enlightened group who want Cuba opened up to trade and visitation.

Funny how the Reich used the heartstrings of the Cuban people to deny them access to loved ones for 50 years, but continue to do business with Communist nations like China, Viet Nam, etc.

Guess there weren't enough Cuban cigars to tempt the Reich to open trade with Cuba. But they sure love the cheap labor pool in China, and all the plastic crap they ship over to Walmart.

    LOL!!

Tedious is continually coming up with fresh adjectives to describe the fascist right.

The old "boorish" ones fit all to well, and as for being abrasive, you may try a new brand of toilet paper. It's been known to do wonders for correcting political abnormalities.

Well Philbo, while we're on the subject, you spelled "literate" wrong, you're missing an apostrophe for the word "shits" and you have extra spaces before some punctuation marks. I'd suggest that when you critique someone else's grammar and punctuation that you make sure your own "shits"[[sic) right.
Thanks, would love to see a Batboy photo. What's a PM? Sorry, haven't been doing this too long.

Cheddar is referring to what some hackers did when they stole my identity. It appears he might have been one of the bad actors. Anyway, no picture that I am aware of ever went up, unless it was part of the actions of the hackers perpetrating the identity theft and not a genuine item.

Saw this op-ed in the NYT . We are really sliding down a slippery slope if these folks on the right especially, the radio talkers keep fanning the flames in the name of entertainment and ratings.

    The Obama Haters’ Silent Enablers
    By FRANK RICH
    Published: June 13, 2009
WHEN a Fox News anchor, reacting to his own network’s surging e-mail traffic, warns urgently on-camera of a rise in hate-filled, “amped up” Americans who are “taking the extra step and getting the gun out,” maybe we should listen. He has better sources in that underground than most.
The anchor was Shepard Smith, speaking after Wednesday’s mayhem at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. Unlike the bloviators at his network and elsewhere on cable, Smith is famous for his highly caffeinated news-reading, not any political agenda. But very occasionally — notably during Hurricane Katrina — he hits the Howard Beale mad-as-hell wall. Joining those at Fox who routinely disregard the network’s “We report, you decide” mantra, he both reported and decided, loudly.
What he reported was this: his e-mail from viewers had “become more and more frightening” in recent months, dating back to the election season. From Wednesday alone, he “could read a hundred” messages spewing “hate that’s not based in fact,” much of it about Barack Obama and some of it sharing the museum gunman’s canard that the president was not a naturally born citizen. These are Americans “out there in a scary place,” Smith said.
Then he brought up another recent gunman: “If you’re one who believes that abortion is murder, at what point do you go out and kill someone who’s performing abortions?” An answer, he said, was provided by Dr. George Tiller’s killer. He went on: “If you are one who believes these sorts of things about the president of the United States ...” He left the rest of that chilling sentence unsaid.
These are extraordinary words to hear on Fox. The network’s highest-rated star, Bill O’Reilly, had assailed Tiller, calling him “Tiller the baby killer” and likening him to the Nazis, on 29 of his shows before the doctor was murdered at his church in Kansas. O’Reilly was unrepentant, stating that only “pro-abortion zealots and Fox News haters” would link him to the crime. But now another Fox star, while stopping short of blaming O’Reilly, was breaching his network’s brand of political correctness: he tied the far-right loners who had gotten their guns out in Wichita and Washington to the mounting fury of Obama haters.
