John,
I am paging you with the hope that it will get to you. The ‘Page’ that is.
Re: ‘Excommunication,”
On March 18, 2011, I made a short reply to your post, saying I would get back to you in a day or two with a few remarks about your dilemma on the above subject.
Well, the ‘Irish stimuli’ within me, prods the German Pragmatism into action, and surer than ’Hellfire,’ here I am. Perhaps a day late, or so.
If you all ready have your pardon,,,,,,,,,? Oh, the hell with it, I will post my thoughts anyway. Perhaps they will help some other ’wanderer’ find his/her way.

In a more serious vent, the extreme of religious learning, or rejection of same, was a volatile subject in the thirties and forties and fifties.

John, I do remember another post of yours with vivid descriptions in your early Catholic school experience. You have to know that, “I have been there and done that!”

Frank McCourt did not have a monopoly on Irish Catholic Childhood misery.

P.S. “EMG” and “Jiminnm” appear to be ’fellow travelers.’ I enjoyed their posts.
