A man wanted for murder in Detroit who was featured on “America’s Most
Wanted” has been captured in Las Vegas.

The Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team [[FIST) arrested 21-year-old
Anton Blevins, who was wanted by the Detroit Police Department for
homicide. It is alleged that Blevins had a violent encounter outside of a
nightclub in downtown Detroit during which Wayne State University
cornerback Courtney Cortez Smith was fatally shot.

U.S. Marshals developed information that Blevins fled to the Las Vegas
valley. On Tuesday, Blevins was located and arrested in the vicinity of
West Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way. Blevins was booked into the Clark
County Detention Center pending his extradition to Michigan.

“This is yet another example of how our joint agency efforts are
apprehending fugitives who think they can hide in the Las Vegas community,”
District of Nevada U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye said.

The Nevada FIST is a permanent task force that brings together the
resources and expertise of state, local and federal agencies in a
coordinated effort to arrest dangerous and violent fugitives. The Nevada
FIST is led by the U.S. Marshals and is comprised of law enforcement
officers from the U.S. Marshals, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police
Department, the Nevada Department of Public Safety, and the Nevada
Department of Corrections.
