I suspect the disclosure of extreme side effects was a condition of a deal allowing advertising directly to patients rather than to physicians alone. It's resulted in bizarre disclaimers. Erections lasting longer than four hours?! Who on earth would want to risk subjecting themselves to something that unnatural? I think Big Pharma has begun mining the very bottom of the desperation barrel of consumers.

    Well, they're mining somenone's bottom, don't know who's yet.

What is particularly disturbing is that Medicare will pay for ED medication- why?

They can't get by with Horny Goat Weed?

Hasn't anyone noticed how many drugs approved over the last 30 years have been recalled/discontinued due to side effects or lack of efficacy [[that, it turns out, in many cases were exposed by the companies' own testing, but not disclosed)?

Pills are cheaper than counseling and while some medicines can be effective..real change comes from interaction with people and spending time with patients is becoming rare for many Doctors...sad thing is try to get cognitive therapy for people with TBI or counseling for other Mental Health Disorders...paperwork and [[some) programs are horrible..

Some Private Companies warehouse people and provide little interventions..some Rehabilitation companies have had or were forced to reduce their courses of treatment due to pressure from Insurance Adjusters...LOS for strokes has seriously decreased over the last ten years...not because solely because of advances in care ..but changing goals ...from Independence to stabilization..most TBI programs who used to have the ability to increase independence has shifted to getting people stabilized and returned home..with various levels of success and support...there are good programs as I recall in Michigan...but as a whole the helping/rehabilitation fields have been hammered by profit driven decisions..

and people resist health care reform....they do until it effects them...and people we will all face disability or health care related issues one day..

You didn't notice that I said "sometimes medication...for particularly acute cases" did you. I am quite anti medicine until last resort. In the extremes [[paralyzing agoraphobia) will be considered worse than death for the sufferer.....in that type of context, meds should be a consideration [[and on a temporary basis if at all possible).

I did not make a medical recommendation...check the wording. Although, maybe some reading comprehension classes would be in order for you [[that is not a medical recommendation either).

Taking Medical Advice From Batts Is Like:

Taking financial advice from George Bush

Taking ethics classes from Dick Cheney

Taking any advice from Lush Bimbao

Taking plastic surgery advice from Jocelyn Wildenstein

Taking acting classes from Ronald Reagan

Taking foreign policy advice from Saracuda Failin

All of these are to be avoided at all costs!

    Sarge,

Dr Robert Cantu is very good with anxiety control using medication and he refers patients to David Kapelle [[a clinical social worker) for the therapy part. They are both here in Austin. You can get information on the internet about them.

Someone hacked into his account??? Seriously, if you presented that argument to a judge, you'd be on trial for murder, because the Judge would die laughing.

Clearly, I am aware of the potential liability of rendering advise of this sort...that is why I worded things as I did [[which you ackowledge as well). The same is true of radio/television/internet medical information programs.

The only difference is that when Big Pharma pulls a drug from the market when it kills people, there is only a small fine, a slap on the wrist, and everyone goes home.

    How about Celebrex?
    How about Vioxx?
    How about Hydroxycut?
    How about Vytorin?

Guess you droopy dick sufferers out there will be in for a surprise when Viagara, Extenze, Cialis, and any other of the boner pills end up turning yours into beef jerky.

is that beef jerky or slim jims? need to know

  19. #44

...because beef jerky is tough throughout, while Slim Jims feature a creamy meat paste filling. A Slim Jim factory in NC exploded a couple days ago, killing 3. I KNEW those things were deadly!

The talk about big pharma above reminds me of the movie "Brain Candy", starring the actors from the Kids in the Hall comedy show. That movie is Hillarious! A must see if you want to laugh and also a nice parody of the pharma compianies.

Big Pharma corralled into doing what they do by massive government bureaucracy...now you are onto something.

When it comes to children with psychological difficulties, all I can say is chose your provider very, very carefully. My stepson was railroaded into taking a variety of drugs and just as they were ready to force him into special ed we begged the mother to let us have him for just one year and see if we could do anything as long as there was no interference from the other side of the family. Finally she agreed. At the end of that year he was off ALL his meds, had caught up with where he should be in school and ended up tutoring other kids a couple years later...before going on to UM Ann Arbor with a scholarship to be a math teacher. Not bad, is it?

Absolutely correct Linda. A good approach is to first engage a non prescribing clinical psychologist and then, if needed, at the suggestion of the trusted/trustworthy clinician, seek out a prescribing mental health professional [[Psychiatrist).
