No worries here Gnome ------ Coming soon [[considering our large Islamic population in this area and possibly in response to this arguably multi-faceted Christian gathering) there will be an 'Islamic' gathering of such in the tri-county area and the same freedom of speech will need to be applied to that gathering, within reason [[not violent, or burning of things! - 'tongue firmly planted in cheek').

It will be notewothy to see what the response to that will be.

We should be calling this a group of Christianists, not Christians.

For certain we are/ were dealing with a multi-faceted group... coming from varied perspectives and interpretations. Had I attended there may have been things I would have agreed with and perhaps somethings I might have taken a pass on.

And as I said in an earlier post regarding the 'interfaith' options [[which seemed to represent the protesters), that concept has a place where ideas of social justice, political policy morals etc can be shared and discussed. But there are "non-negotiables" in both faiths that neither will trade away. Like the concept that Jesus is Lord per mainline Christianity.

As for economic impact I don't think it equaled the hype. From what I can gather by examining a video on their site it would seem generous to say there were 3-4000 in attendance at Ford Field. A big stage and highlight lighting gives an initial impression of a large event. But if one looks carefully the seats are empty, other than a handful near the stage, and the floor of the football field only half full of a loosely spaced audience.

Geezus, I've seen more people in line for a Michigan lotto ticket.

I feel sort of bad that the stadium wasn't filled to the brim. It would have at least justified using a venue that big. Welp! Next on Ford Field's guest list: NICKELBACK.
