This is interesting, and somewhat insulting BUT... I can't complain TOO much, since this guy does have some sort of optimism... but it's optimism based off of a false - mainstream view of a dead Detroit.

I'm somewhat insulted by this op-ed because it's a guy from New York... not from Michigan or Detroit - and he's writing an article about how Detroit has all of these problems...
"However, considering the effect of the economic downturn in Detroit, my attitude is a little different this year. With GM filing for bankrupting, Chrysler’s assets being sold to Fiat, jobs vanishing and countless properties in foreclosure, the denizens of Detroit need something to boost their spirits"

He has no idea about any of the absolutely fantastic underground, grassroot efforts taking effect/action during this whole dilemma that is sewing the seed for a reinvented and far better City of Detroit.

He's only gotten half the story correct, and even then, not so much. I mean, Detroit isn't all doom and gloom... plus it's a world wide recession - maybe he should take a look at his city first before he starts talking about Detroit. New York has[[had?) a massive billion dollar deficit [[and yes.. they have the tax base/population to deal with the blow) but still, they have their issues too - so stick to the local papers please and let Detroit asses where it stands.

...Thank you
