How many jobs and how much gas for the hundreds of millions of vehicles all over the world does "All those combined" provide? In fact what have "All those combined" done in their lives to earn even a tiny fraction of the money that Exxon and Shell earns? Answer - zero, zip, nada! Their unearned wants are the problem not the solution. They would like to kill off the producers of profit but still have the products and their money. It's called Socialism.

From firedoglake: American Spectator Editor Admits to Being Agent Provocateur at D.C. Museum
It appears that one of the two in the confrontation with the security officer is Patrick Howley, Assistant Editor of The American Spectator....

Immediately after the incident began hitting the newswires Howley published a “Breaking News” story with The American Spectator online in which he reveals that he had consciously infiltrated the group on Friday with the intent to discredit the movement....

According to Howley’s story he joined the group in its march toward the Air and Space Museum but the protesters on the march were unwilling to be confrontational....

Howley then admits in his piece that he snuck past the guard at the first entrance in order to “infiltrate” the building and then confronted another guard. He then “sprinted toward the door” at which time he was first hit with pepper-spray....

Well, that type of economy existed for thousands of years, so I don't see why it couldn't persist into the future. I mean, we can't all be expected to manipulate money for a living, can we?

You sir are a hipocrite.....EVERY product in your home and that you use was made by or partially made by corporations. Again I point to the south....Cuba to be exact, where you can live in that type of society. The majority of us love our TV's, cell phones, IPads and such made by corporations.!!!

If they need a focus on Wall St., someone could ask why S&P and Moody's are still in business.

Any one can make good and services. Even before corporations. mom and pop can control mass productions and goods and services and be equally distributed to the mom and pop stores for the masses. It worked back in ancient times and it can work here.

From The Occupy Wall Street Movement and the Coming Demise of Crony Capitalism, by Dr. Ravi Batra:

In 1978, to the laughter of many and the derision of a few, I wrote a book called, "The Downfall of Capitalism and Communism," which predicted that Soviet communism would vanish around the end of the century, whereas crony or monopoly capitalism would create the worst-ever concentration of wealth in its history, so much so that a social revolution would start its demise around 2010. My forecasts derived from the law of social cycles, which was pioneered by my late teacher and mentor, P. R. Sarkar. Lo and behold, Soviet communism disappeared right before your eyes during the 1990s, and now, just a year after 2010, middle-class America, spearheaded by a movement increasingly known as "Occupy Wall Street [[OWS)," is beginning to revolt against Wall Street greed and crony capitalism. Will the revolt succeed? It surely will, because the pre-conditions for its success are all there....

According to this article.....the Occupy Detroit people ONLY want to Occupy for 60 days......WTF.....I guess it will be too cold for them....NO Balls is what I say. If They don't have a permit...arrest them, which apprarently they don't have and have not requested. And these are the people that supposedly represent the 99%. Grow a pair or stay home!!!

4700 people have liked Occupy Detroit on FB, which I am thinking 10% of those are police, feds, social study professors and alike. Another 10% are liking it because its cool.....we'll see how many really drive down there in the Corporate made cars and show up and how many will stay....or will they go home to their nice Corporate loaned homes, and watch TV, listen to their IPods, Google on their IPad....all corporate made items. All Hipocrites!!!

Do I like what is going on....not so much, but I am not a hipocrite....I love all my corporate products. I'm pissed off that I wasn't as smart as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or hell even Mike Ilich..... You can if you are smart enough or have balls enough to do it. I chose not to....and its okay!!

    Default Koyaanisqatsi

    Total duration 1:26 minutes:
An art-house circuit sensation, this feature-length documentary is visually arresting and possesses a clear, pro-environmental stance. Koyaanisqatsi is composed of nature imagery, manipulated in slow motion, double exposure or time lapse, juxtaposed with footage of humans' devastating environmental impact on the planet. The message of director Godfrey Reggio is clear: humans are destroying the planet, and all of human progress is pointlessly foolish.

Are you aware of the irony of this statement?
Let me give you a little lesson on history and politics - a Marxist-Leninist state does not have Mom and Pop businesses, or has not, on any large scale, because those are capitalist enterprises.

Now the right has begun demonizing small businesses as communist...

I don't think most people advocate the abolition of corporations. It is difficult for a small group of people to make things like cars, computers, or telephones. However I believe there is no reason people should drive to a big box store for things like produce, which are also grown by a big agribusiness. I think big box stores provide exceptionally sucky customer service, products, atmosphere, and places to work. I spend my money locally. I know that is now being used as a marketing ploy, but I spend my money in my city at small businesses. We're not building rockets here. Yes, these places are available outside of...Cuba...despite your belief to the contrary.

Some of us also would pay more for our durable appliances and technology if they were made in the United States by well-paid union labor instead of by teenagers in a factory workhouse in China or SE Asia. But you seem pretty content with that. A lot of your fancy tech devices are made in China and Vietnam...uh oh...who's the communist now?

Your value system of love of material pocessions is disturbing. I believe we should love God, love our fellow man, and our communities. Does that mean I should move to Cuba?

Your assumptions are false as well. Some of us lead simple lives and don't need the newest piece of shit to be happy, unlike yourself. I have a phone that makes phone calls. I have a TV that gets 2, 4, 7, and 56. If I need to schedule something, I have a planner that was made in the USA and set me back about $20. My car is 14 years old and was made in DETROIT, MICHIGAN.

I'd tell you where you can go...

Thank you for the history lesson....perhaps your are right although they do have a socialistic system now. Its not working out to well for them. You are also right you don't need the lastest things....having said that:

I don't give a crap how old your car is or what you do or don't have.....I'm glad you support small businesses....that is your Right as is My right to shop and support big box stores and corporations....they made me a good life and I won't appoligize for it.

Do I need the lastest things? No Do I like them? Yep I live on a nice pension from a major corporation, an IRA and SS, I also have a online business. I have worked hard for what I have, again not going to applogize for what I have accomplished or have.

I believe in God, Donate $1000's to local charities and fought for my country and Your right to protest. So don't give me your hollier than thou BS....

You may protest for your 60 days or whatever, I am glad you are doing my bidding, while I watch the Tigers, Lions and Wings on my 55" flat screen, in my nice paid for warm home.....Thank you!!

Lets face facts.... I like my life the way it is! You like living the was you do! You don't like certain things and are protesting those things....go do it.

I am never going to convince you and you are never going to convince me....we will agree to disagree. And as long as what your doing doesnt' adversely affect me, I really don't care. That's what makes American so great!!! God Bless America!!

To expand on the post that Jimaz made concerning Dr. Ravi Batra these 8 areas must be addressed for the Occupy Wall Street movement to have any juice. Unfortunately in many instances the horse is already out of the barn and there isn't a lot that can be done

    1) Reagan income tax cut of 1981-
    2) anti-trust laws not enforced
    3) Address the oil industry and pharmaceutical industry mergers
    4) Outsourcing
    5) Trade deficit
    6) Glass-Steagall
    7) Bush tax cuts
    8) minimum wage adjustments

These policies listed were used to dismantle the middle class over time. These policies took place over decades and we are now feeling its cumulative effect. To correct this is going to take decades. I would hope the Occupy wall streeters understand this and get ready to address these issues over time as well.

Dems and progressives need to elect politicians with these points in mind and hold them accountable to address these areas in such a way that it is going to benefit main street.

    nice, 1st&10!

but I would add addressing the media mergers as well AND getting the airwaves back to the people by reinstating the equal time provisions.
