Someone will argue this point. Have at it. I'll sit back and watch.

Okay Big, best mashed potatos, Cadieux Cafe! Don't be lazy, restart our food thread. Made a great dinner last night but same old, same old. Need new recipes.
Great to see you back on board. Missed you!
Sumas
Not in Detroit, but Ruby Tuesday's has some great Garlic Mashed taters.........
Frankenmuth!
At my aunt's house. Whipped with cream cheese and a few other items added in.
You hollow out the center and put a wad of butter in it.
You feel like you're in heaven.
Anyone remember the mashed potatoes and Suzie Q's?
Talk about stiff, they were like wet cement. If they slapped them down too hard they'd crack the plate.
Speaking of SQ's does anyone remember the woman with the bright red hair that was the greater. When I was a little kid I always remember her from when we use to wait in line. Was she the owner?
Which Sumas?
I never thought that making a wise crack would bring back memories for some people.Okay Big, best mashed potatos, Cadieux Cafe! Don't be lazy, restart our food thread. Made a great dinner last night but same old, same old. Need new recipes.
We need one thread for ALL food. Just a thought!
As an aside - my mashed potatoes have garlic, onion powder, butter, and sour cream. Then throw on a 4# slab of beef.
The fluffy mashed are oh so garlicky delicious.
Don't crack wise with me, flatfoot.
Anyone guess the movie that the above qoute came from?
Hints: The movie was nominated for 10 academy awards, winning 7 including best picture.
The qoute was said to a character played by Charles Durning.
Is your Aunt my Gramma? Sounds like her's and they are the best!
Howes Bayou has a delectable garlic mashed potatoe side which comes with the ribeye dinner.....
I haven't been there in awhile, but Monroe Street Steakhouse in Greektown had some real good mashed potatoes.

Putting garlic in good mashed potatoes is an abomination against nature!
The best mashed taties is at the two Polish restaurants in Hamtramck.
Mashed potatos with sour cream and garlic is divine
I love that fact that this thread was started as a goof and now there's a serious conversation about mashed potatoes.
Someone needs to start a thread on the best rolls/bread in the Detroit area.
How about best napkins?
On Ray's point, that's the great thing about potatoes. You can do so many things with potatoes and they're all good in my opinion.
I just might make the best in Detroit.
Never liked mashed potatoes. Don't eat 'em. Won't eat 'em. Waste of good potatoes.
Cut 'em up and fry 'em. Only way.
Mashed potatoes. Yuk.
