I was thinking of taking in the Cactus [[with Jim McCarty) reunion show at the Bag tonight. Yeah, I dig the classic Detroit rock and roll. Is anybody else going? And, does anyone have any recollections of seeing the band?

I probably saw them, but don't remember, [[70's - right?), but I remember all those groups from that time. James Gang, Frigid Pink, SRO, Allman Bros., Ken Nordine, Spirit, Detroit Junior to name a few. Cactus was at the top of the party music list.

Hadn't thought about Word Jazz for years.....

I still have a couple of Ken Nordines CD's. Word Jazz and Colours. They were tough to find. I think it was CJOM or WABX that turned me on to him about 1970.
So - I'm not the only crazy person who knows about Word Jazz!
I wish I could upload my Ken Nordine files to this site. Those recordings go back to my birth, 1955. That's really hip.
Nice catch on YOU TUBE, I never would have thought to look there.
Ken Nordine AND Tom Waits ? Be still my heart. The two best jazz poets, together.
