Not that I have the time or the interest to sit here and debate this [[I read/watch both Detroit media and New York media on a daily basis, so my opinion is pretty "educated"), but I promise that you'll find next to no stories in either the NYPost or the NYDailyNews that broadbrush negative marginalizations of New York City, like the Detroit media does with Detroit. For instance, I read in the Detroit News yesterday an article that compared and contrasted Sylvan Lake and Detroit by highlighting points such as "Detroit is a metropolis that's mostly black, poor, undereducated...", while Sylvan Lake is "a lakeside Oakland County community of about 1,600 mostly higher-income whites who have college degrees." I didn't take anything out of context. I also didn't say that the Detroit media unfairly represents Detroit proper [[although for all the crying about how the foreign and national media is biased in its portrayals of Detroit, the same scrutiny should be held to the local media).

Now, what I did say is that compared to the media in other cities, Detroit media tends to engage in broad marginalizations of Detroit... Because you don't have to be unfair in your portrayals to be biased in your reporting. And if you don't understand this point then I've got nothing. But seriously, you want real irony? Count the number of adjectives used to describe Detroit and the number to describe Sylvan Lake:

Detroit - black, poor, undereducated, Democratic
Sylvan Lake - lakeside, 1,600 residents, white, college educated, Republican

The writer used more adjectives to describe Sylvan Lake, population 1,600, than it did Detroit, population 717,000.

, you will be reading / seeing / hearing stories of "how the city of Detroit came back form the brink "
I believe everyone in the media wants to be the first on to "break" the story and say "I saw it coming YEARS AGO " LOL , Maybe a little premature , but everyone wants to be in first before it blows up !
Anyone who's familiar with the city's recent history , knows the city is finally addressing problems that have been unattended for 40 plus years . Only time will tell , but I'm an optimistic !

Its always funny that Black's always are told WE did this to Detroit, which is about %50 true. the other %50 goes to whites. but for some reason white people in this area cant begin to fathom they are apart of Detroits problem. non of you on here has taken a look in the mirror and took resposibility for your actions also. and I hate to use general terms cause all Blacks and All Whites are not part of the problem, but in this region in this State, the brush gets painted across the board. The "Hood" is some bullshit and Blacks need to take more pride in themselves and their communities. to me the problem W/ the Black community is they/we think that a politician can save us, or someone else can and should take care of us. we send our kids to school expecting the teachers to educate our children and when they get home we dont have to teach em shit cause thats the teacher's job. thats BS. we think we should get Free checks from the government and food. Blacks will bend over backwards to chase free shit, all the while its doing nothing for their advancement. wonder why alot of Blacks dont get married??? Cause their benefits will be cut off if they get married or get a job, eventhough the job dont pay much they will get cut off. the Reward for being an asshole is too high, thats why its an abundance of assholes.
Whites for whatever reason dont want to live around the "help" so they were moving and moving out of the city. Whites tormented alot of Blacks and still do to this day. but for some strange reason we follow you around. cause you're the easy way out. you provide the good paying jobs, nice neighborhoods etc. so we chase you. why did so many Blacks move to the burbs? and when they do you guys move even further, but Blacks need their master. After the Whites left the city they took alot of jobs w/ them. they developed new cities and new industries where the average Black could get to and if they did they were harrassed by the police.
Its alot of Black Owned businesses in the city but Blacks dont support them. we prefer to go to Somerset, fairlane, etc. this is a problem within our community. we dont support one another. if one Black man strikes it rich and start providing jobs at least 10000 blacks will be hating on him trying to destroy what he has. they will break into his/her house, steal their car, block them from getting Casino Deals, hate on them for awarding contracts to other blacks. why? I really dont know why but i'm quite sure it has a little to w/ the way Whites have treated us over the past 500 years.

Didn't Coleman Young and GM destroy a "white neigborhood" , how have whites treated "you" over 500 years? I can honestly say my ancestors, never kept "slaves" and were treated just as poorly as blacks. Blacks had crosses burned on the lawn, and my ancestors were proscuted for believing in the cross[[christanity). Also, "blacks" are not the only ones that don't support their local business, there is a alot of hate or envy in all cultures.
