A good friend has been working her tail off putting together one of the first officially sanctioned bike races in Detroit in a long long time. She's done it right too involving the community, the YMCA and even hosting a youth race lead by Paws! Not to mention a Detroit Futbol Leauge relay. But remember this isn't some alley cat. The main event will be a US Cycling sanctioned points race with cyclists whipping at up to 40 mph on a circle course in the heart of downtown. Many of the participants are from out of state and will get to see just what this city has to offer. There will also be a area for local merchants to sell there wares and a silent auction to support this and future races.

Erika Fulk [[organizer) did much of this work on her own. She worked hard to get major sponsors, cleared the course with US Cycling and even successfully maneuvered through city gov't to get permits and streets shut down, not to mention police and ems support. The race still isn't fully paid for and O strongly encourage you to attend, bid on the auction or donate at http://www.critiriumdetroitcity.com
