I believe this to be a church in Detroit late 1922, marriage of grandfather. Thought it might be Holy Rosary, but don't see that brickwork...anyone hazard a guess or recognize.
thank you for that info - at one time they were on Trumbull or the parents were. This makes more sense now. The subdivision not the street name. I knew that one of the city directories had them...
Oh thanks so much, love having that map. Everything I look for where ancestors were in Detroit has mostly gone industrial/commercial. Keep hoping for a pic of their home. I did get one from when...
Can anyone tell me about the Durfield Subdivision mentioned in a newspaper clipping from 1918? I found that 33 Lothrop Ave, became 71 Lothrop Ave in 1921 renumbering. Any other info would be...
That's funny, but it would be cool if confirmed. I'd love to know if it is on the road or in someone's garage. Great grandfather was a life long Detroiter, so maybe it's still there somewhere.
Thank you...great looking car!
doing a little genealogical research and it turns out my great grandfather owned a Hupmobile when he died in 1931. He had a 1925 model E. It would be really spectacular if the car was still around....
Does anyone have access to The Viking 1918 or 1919 Yearbook for Northern High School? I've been watching ebay for a couple of years and the earliest one to come up is 1920.
Looking to see if...

Trying to post photo of my grandfather's Beer Store - he had a couple of Pfeifer's signs on the wall, one is upper right corner.
I'm doing some genealogy and was told that although my grandfather lived in Detroit, he attended high school in Ontario. I don't know if this was for all of high school or just a year or two. Any...
Very Nice!
thanks so much Kathleen!
does anyone know when Croghan became Monroe? I see in 1863 I have an ancestor living on Croghan, Google Maps doesn't show Crogan...then found a website regarding St. Mary's Church that says it was...
to PSewick...you are an angel! Thank you for finding and posting photo for me. I have a cousin in Norway that will be happy to see this!
Hi again BROCK7, I've looked at so many different years of directories, I feel like I know them better for old Detroit, than from where I grew up here in California! The Frederick Ritter is my...
Brock7, thank you for including the links. I checked out the 1928 directory and noticed that in the 1400 block is St. John the Baptist Church where one of the daughters was married, a great side...
Eastside Al and Brock7....Thank YOU!!! I had found the David Roberts name but thought that was 1331, could just have been the copy/image I was looking at. My family was there from mid 1860s to 1889...
I'm continuing to look at directory and census records and I'm close, I think, it might be 1331 Clinton, although no one is listed at this address in 1921.
Family I am researching moved by 1921 and the people that were there in 1900 are also gone by then...haven't been able to zero in on new address using known names in either census or directory...
nicely done, love the photos and the history. I'm use to seeing photos of the outside of these buildings, incredible to see some of the interior work. Thank you for posting.
O.K., really good lead for researching at the Burton Collection. I'm in California, so will need to check on resources for helping with that. I was successful in finding a few items at the Burton...
not that I know of
Again, you astound me with your work and sharing great old photos of Corktown! Thank you so much. Ellen Abraham was my gr gr grandmother. Her son Leo Abraham was in business with my gr.grandfather...
Thank you DetroitHabitater for the Sanborn Map!!! So cool. And Mccarch for yet another resource! You guys are the best. I pretty sure my family was gone by then as the name should have been...
