I think the existing systems have to be supported and enhanced. Unify the fare system of the people mover with the buses. Expand the transit only lanes for the QLine and add more signal priority....
Does anyone know how many screens the Alger had/ will have?

Corktown is booming and really becoming a hotspot. But this historic...
Don't forget Youmacon is this weekend at the RenCen and Cobo. Don't be surprised to see all kinds of people in costume around downtown and on the People Mover.

I loved the RenCen theater. Went there a lot before it closed. Sadly not many others did despite the fact the prices were as cheap as anywhere and it was real film projection.
I hope downtown...
Hardball, a movie starring Keanu Reeves as taking over an inner city baseball team in Chicago I think.
They get to go to a mlb game and sure enough, they sit in the upper deck at Tiger Stadium.

Is that why the new lights are connected by cables suspended in the air? I thought it was done because the infrastructure buried in the ground was so rotted out, it was most economical to simply run...
I thought a deal was already in the works to move to Hamtramck's Keyworth Stadium. It's a good neighborhood but I worry if there's enough parking nearby should the team draw enough to fill both sides...

Another article. It mentions 5 stations were changed somehow but doesn't say what other than the expanded part of Cobo...
this would be tremendous because as a kid, riding on the People Mover between Grand Circus and Broadway, every building was vacant and derelict.
On the final day of Youmacon, it occurred to me that...
I've been wondering the same thing myself.
This is the article I mentioned earlier.

It had been saying "the next station is..." without finishing after leaving Times Square since Grand Circus has been closed. So now, it's not stopping at Times Square either.
Which begs the...
According to Wikipedia, Millender Center was completed in 1985. The People Mover officially opened on July 31, 1987.
So it can't be real. The track cuts across Jefferson at a curve, not a right...
The new bus signs with route name and number started appearing back in 2008 and have gradually been added to more and more streets. I don't know why the city didn't do this years ago.
Having a...
Apparently, some of the trains in Vancouvers skytrain system are the same cars as the People Mover has. If you youtube skytrain, you'll find some of the trains look very similar and make the same...
So in the photo of the Kern demolition from 1966, you say that the building on the right up close was also demolished? Wouldn't that be in the same block as the building that had Barry Sanders on it...
Tell me more about the Farbman Mall complex. I never heard about this but I do remember hearing something about the Kern block demolition. I have the Free Press saved the day after Hudson's was...
so the Crowley store was where the compuware parking structure is now? I had never seen pictures of it before.
I know where Hudson's stood but what was where the Compuware building is now? The more...
Wow, I've always wanted to know more about the history of the People Mover. I recently found a youtube video taken on the train in 1987, the year it opened.

Of course...
Some of the drawings I've seen of putting the rail at each side of the street show a lane in between for parking. That sounds like a terrible idea. Please tell me that if they are indeed going to...
you know, I kinda wish the atrium was wider. It seems squeezed in between Cobo Arena and the part that overhangs Atwater.
Still a great improvement.
I'm only 26 so I can't say I was there. And I understand Detroit started losing population at around the same time the streetcars were taken out. There were the riots in 67 and a lot of other urban...
Did the RenCen always lack elevators that went to all the floors on the main area? [[A-1-2-3-4-5) The ones in the center don't stop at A [[ground floor) or 2 [[people mover & Millender skywalk level)...
I have very faint memories of what the Renaissance Center and Trappers Alley looked like before the 2000's when one was renovated by GM and the other became Greektown Casino.
The more I read about...
