Welcome! Where abouts are you staying? Detroit proper or a neighboring suburb?
Nope. It didn't sell. Public record shows the last sale date in 2004 an that was just the owner repositioning it for new financing. The listing on the MLS for 2.5 mil is expired. Hope that helps!
Wait until they have the winter classic in Ann Arbor and bill it as metro detroit.... You guys are going to have a field day with that one!
Anyways, if we are commited to the idea of downtown...
I think the GM tower looks good but the top of the others look like slap bracelets
Is there any indication that they will save the Globe Building and not tear it down?
OK, some people are making this an optimistic visioneer vs. Detroit downer argument and it is NOT.
It is a lack of critical thought problem. Everyone knows Woodward could be an amazing...
Now is the time to move back if you have the opportunity. I moved back a year and a half ago from Chicago and it seems like every day something new and exciting is popping up. Couldn't be happier. ...
There is something to be said for the presence of a police station in a neighborhood. Knowing there is a safe haven around the corner is a powerful thing
Detroit Dad, It's too bad they tore down Kowloon Walled City...you would have loved it, SUPER urban. Definitely no gardens. http://peeba.gfxile.net/roskaa/kowloon_walled_city.jpg

Yes Cass, you are correct, they demolished the buildings simply to put up vegetable gardens. There were no other reasons, just for the gardens. We should start an anti-garden group dedicated to...
I'm sorry, were they planning a vegetable garden, or a sculpture garden dedicated to Hilter and Stalin? From the reaction on this forum, it must be the later.
Meddle, that would be trespassing and theft...lol I just wanted to beat everyone else to it [[see every thread about abandoned buildings ever).
Since Robocop is so "trending out" right now, I would like to say, I'm not a fan of the garage parking solution, it's all too Delta City for me. We all back out of our garages and drive into the...
Not many people live in Greektown, but plenty of people work there and entertain there 24-7. If there was a quality loft building in Greektown, it would be full.
I believe Midtown, Corktown, East Jefferson and the CBD grew but I bet the rest of the city, i.e the other 90% lost tremendously
I hope Dave Chappelle comes back from his farm and makes a parody of this...it's begging for it.
You're going to call me a hipster for this I'm sure... but I prefer Detroit without the big boxes. I like going to the market on Sundays, I like shopping at Honey Bee, I like stopping by Kims, and...
I just want to know why Chernobyl keeps getting snubbed...
I think we all want urban farming. There are very few people that think it's downright a bad idea. It's true that Detroit has a seemingly endless supply of vacant land, nobody would question...
If you look at Riverfront, see if you can find anything in the 300 building, it's a condo building and by far the best maintained and up to date. Only 20% are approved for rentals but if you find...
I think that would be sweet. Maybe the boys at the Burton could hook that up? I'm sure the guy at the Michigan wouldn't care so long as people pay an inflated rate to park...
"TrustoCorp is a New York based artist [[or artists) dedicated to highlighting the hypocrisy and hilarity of human behavior through sarcasm and satire. TrustoCorp targets areas in the public domain...
Not for or against, at the moment I'm on the fence. But, if it "makes sense" to rip out all of the trees and such because they may become hiding spots for villains and such, I have to ask does it...
