Anyone catch this last night on the news? DEA is involved. Is Happy's a cover for a Mr. Nice Guy business like in the movie Half Baked?:)
And honestly how can this guys name be Happy Asker? Come on! :rolleyes:
Never had their pizza and never will. Heard it's crap and theres too many other proven pizza joints to fullfill my craving.
Didn't catch the news but am enjoying my leftover Happy's Pizza from lunch right now!
I detest Happy Pizza... very substandard IMO... Something is really off and cheap about their sauce [[tastes like old burnt cheap catsup), dough and other pizza ingredients.
I DO give them some props for setting up shop in areas of Detroit where many would not dare!!

I just love hearing that goddamn jingle during every commercial break of a Lions broadcast. Especially the post-game, when there are breaks every two minutes. If I end up in hell, I am certain that will be blaring on continuous loop.

I like Happy's. Pizza and wing combo. Guess it depends on which one you go to. I tried that Slice of the 80's last week. That was decent.
I grew up near the Happy's in Inkster. I always heard rumors about drug activity there. I personally think there food is awful
Slice of the 80's on the other hand is awesome.
Supino's in Eastern Market has ruined other pizza for me. So good. I have Happy's a few times and IMHO it is a small step above hot n ready.
This actually doesn't surprise me. This is one of those well known "rumors" in the hood about that place and its operations. I had commented a while ago that I couldn't stand their commercials and that their pizza looked gross in the commercials and the ads, and the guy I was with made a comment that pizza wasn't all they were selling. It was some kind of inside joke between him and his friend, they just laughed and said some other stuff about the owner but I didn't think much about it. I just think its pretty strange that a place with what looks like substandard food would be doing blockbuster numbers when their competition is much better. I think this story will soon develop into something real.

They have such a broad menu compared to a standard pizza place I thought it was silly for Scott Lewis to compare them to Little Ceasar's and Dominos.
Happy's is like any other franchise, some good, some suck. Do agree that Supinos in the market is the ultimate best.
Pretty scary graphics/ logo. I wonder of the designer was paid? ---:o---

The whole feds looking into Happys smells to me that Happys were taking chunk$$ outs of some very well connected big wigs pockets. So they called the dogs in. Happy's being now white grew to fast, being that he's only 33 is obvious a problem for bigger chains. Happy can easily go another 33 years driven his business into the likes of a mcdonalds & into the #1 pizza chain in the world!
Sadly this type of practice is how the elite wealthy american families got their wealth. Scam, rob, or killed your way into a legit business, Change americans views on you through charity.

One in Ann Arbor in a very tony area, one in Ypsilanti. They're everywhere, rich and poor neighborhoods alike. Have indeed wondered how they financed it all, but they seem to have picked locations intelligently as far as I can tell. The Ann Arbor location on S. Main is near any number of restaurants, but for pizza specifically they have the market cornered, and there are a lot of families and a huge apartment complex within a few blocks.

If you want to complain about bad Pizza, look at Dominos and Little Caesars. Little Caesars had a good product until they changed the recipee and went to the $5 hot and ready pizzas. Dominos always sucked, even with the new recipee.
I will admit you got to give Dominos credit for coming out and saying that they had a bad product, and I actually ordered from them a few months ago to try it out.

One of the guys who were busted at the weed house on Chene and Mack was from Farmington Hills [[where Happy's Pizza is headquartered). Could it be possible that the DEA was steered towards them from that investigation?

What is intresting is the amount of money they dumped into that place. The Neon signs, and all the equipment inside looks first class, yet I have not received any fliers at my home or seen any other advertising.

I would eat Happy's much more frequently if I could get weed put in it. Otherwise it's just average pizza. I do like that you can buy carry out beer from some of the locations. Very good idea that more "party food" places should try.
I like the baked pizza-subs; the wings are good, regular & barbecue.. an order of fries is generous.. I have yet to try the ribs.. I also see they offer "chicago dogs" and a few other varieties..
