Did Officer Weekley intentionally kill Alyana Stanley-Jones? Did he even know she was in the house? Do you think they went to a picnic, or that this is some kind of video game? The perp JUST murdered someone, I believe, "because he didn't like the way the guy looked @ him". Went BACK and murdered him. This is a horrid tragedy, but if I were sent in to apprehend the perp, my finger would be on the trigger and the safety off. You don't get a do-over. Grandma should have picked up the 7 year old and headed for cover, not played tug-o-war with someone's loaded weapon in the middle of a police raid. My first thought would have been GTFO, not "I can take him". I can't entirely fault the cop in this.
Right, because everybody knows what to do when suddenly woken up by a flash bang in the middle of the nightDid Officer Weekley intentionally kill Alyana Stanley-Jones? So far as I've heard, the shooter was the only one using that excuse and it was contradicted by other witnesses including another officer in the room. When you have conflicting testimony from two officers, do you believe the one who killed a child or the one who didn't?
Let me ask you, do you believe Officer Weekley went to the house to do intentionally kill Alyana Stanley-Jones?
That is a silly question because I believe they didn't even know she was in the house, let alone in the front room. Mistake or not this officer is responsible and should be held accountable, "oops, my bad" is not going to cut it.
Flash Bang goes off, which is used to disorient a person[[as its designed to do) and you dont know whats going on and if you're not familiar with it you might think a gun was going off and when guns go off black people get low, they don't run towards guns either.
ELDERLY WOMAN ???!!! Did you see that "Elderly Woman" immediately after the verdict was read? At the interview she certainly didn't look like the same grieving Grandmother portrayed on the stand at the trial. She was all fixed up, younger looking, and quite frankly in my opinion, with all her 'attitude' and the cursing on [[potentially National) television .... I can believe she knowingly harbored a hardened criminal/murderer. That said...Although I believe the officer involved in the child's death may be a good man, raised right, outstanding record, etc.... he made a tragic mistake, and should take his medicine for that mistake. He should definitely be re-tried, the little girl's life is worth that extra effort. The Jurors didn't say he was NOT GUILTY....they said they couldn't come to a conclusion. Try him again with a different Judge and Jury. And YES, the family should take EQUAL responsibility for their child's death...at least in their mind and heart. This tragic story gets it's beginnings in a home environment not suitable for children expected to grow-up safe, well adjusted, and half a chance at normalcy.
