ST. ANDREWS HALL

As immigrant communities grew in number and wealth, communal halls rose trumpeting their success, progress and political power.  This week we take you on a tour of seven of these famous halls.  While their original purpose of these amazing buildings have passed as Detroit's old ethnic neighborhoods dissolved in the melting pot of modern life and mobility, many have transformed to successful new lives all struggle to find meaning and survive against the demand of high overhead and decaying structure.  Two in particular, St. Andrews Hall and the Bohemian House have gone on to become renowned entertainment venues presenting cutting edge art and music.
