DWSD borrowed $500 million against $50 million lease

DWSD is laser focused on water sales to residential/commercial customers.
It recently borrowed $500 million against the $50 million annual lease payment
-- to fund five years of infrastructure improvement projects.
About $13 million of the lease payment from GLWA goes to
repaying the bonds each year

What are they doing with the $50 Million per year for 40 years [[$2 Billion total) that the suburbs are giving them for a zero ownership stake and only “a say” in how it’s run - whatever that means?

We should be laser focused on getting a running report on what they’re spending our money on. What’s the betting it isn’t even on DWSD?

There is no doubt that Detroit Water quality is second to none, but suburban users are paying for it “twice” and in the timeless words of a recent president “you didn’t build that!”

The suburbs can go and build their own water system if they hate DWSD so much.

And I bet that's going to cost a lot more than $50 million per year too.

We basically already have one, since Millions of people
drink from Lake Huron - and not - from Belle Isle.

for many , many , decades already - via DWSD.
Back when Roman Gribbs was the Detroit Mayor .

It already exists ----- as has existed ----- for a long time

The suburbs north of Detroit , [[around the 14 Mile mark)
get their drinking water from Lake Huron, and have been drinking
that water for the past 20 years. There is nothing to build, it's old already
