very good.. hopefully the governor will sign this into law in his state.. then a year from now this can serve as an example of what can be done with single-payer systems.. in an interview the governor says that smaller states like Vermont aren't hampered by the presence of big-insurance lobbyists groups, so it was an easier sell to the public-- and state officials- there..
I hope for the same, but honestly I'm concerned that a single payer system in Vermont will be a colossal failure. If that happens it may end up being a strong argument against a single payer system on a national level. Will the sick and uninsured flock to Vermont and flood the system? Will those in the medical industry flee the state due to the prospect of lower income/lower profit potential? Will drug companies be willing to sell at lower prices when they can still get more in bordering states? Without the ability to manipulate/regulate the entire system I don't see how Vermont will reap the benefits of a single payer system as they do in other developed countries.very good.. hopefully the governor will sign this into law in his state.. then a year from now this can serve as an example of what can be done with single-payer systems.. in an interview the governor says that smaller states like Vermont aren't hampered by the presence of big-insurance lobbyists groups, so it was an easier sell to the public-- and state officials- there..
Vermont despite its small size was always at the vanguard of civil rights and social development issues in the US. It doesnt bow down to business interests the way many provinces and states do.
Even billboards are outlawed on highways and roads so that what you get is a minimum interference from visual nonsense. Beauty-wise, you can try your damnedest not to like Vermont but it's a very daunting task. You could end up in a hospital trying...
