Default Wayne Cares annual Midtown Makeover

On Saturday, May 14, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, Wayne State University and Midtown Detroit, Inc. will partner to make a difference in the Midtown community. The goal is to clean and beautify Midtown one block at a time and make Detroit a more beautiful city in which to live, work, learn and play.

Join hundreds of community members as we clean up and revitalize midtown Detroit. Volunteers will work in teams that will fan out throughout the area to beautify and clean up the midtown Detroit neighborhood. Buses will shuttle volunteers to clean-up locations throughout Midtown including Brush Park and the art center district.

Volunteer check-in begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. on the first floor of the WSU Student Center. Lunch will be provided at the end of the volunteer day. A limited amount of street parking is available, as well as parking in Structure 2 [[$4.75 for visitors; OneCard accepted).

Midtown Makeover will take place rain or shine, so please be prepared for the weather. Also, as most of the work involves cleaning, planting or painting, please wear appropriate attire. This includes closed toed shoes, long sleeves and clothing that can get a little dirty. Work gloves will be provided.

I was looking for something in the city this week, some volunteer clean up work, but it looks like the motor city makeover is happening in the middle of May, when i'll be out of town.
