Default Crown Bar on Jos. Campau

Ok guys, this should be easy for some of you.

Many many moons ago, I used to perch myself on a stool there, before my Polish speaking friend & I would go off to other more expensive haunts [[Club Polski for one) in search of cute blond Polish girls.

Crown was a cheap place to prime the pump....a shell and a shot of schnapps was about 70 cents total.

The Crown has been gone for awhile, but I cannot remember for the life of me the exact building it used to be in. Last couple times I've been in the city, I've walked Campau trying to jog my memory to no avail. It was on the west side of the street about in the center of the business district.

    Help?

so a few more hints on the location of Crown Bar.
North or south of Holbrook, Caniff, Carpenter?

I think...it was a block or two north of Holbrook. As to more info....I was speaking in the early 70's....70, 71, 72 and at that time it had been around awhile.

    I have the answer,

    checking with my Hamtramck friends,
Crown bar is in the bulding that now houses
Baker Street car bar, another fine establishment still serving drinks.
If you get there early enough stop in for some fine bake goods at New Palace.
Across from the old Federals, shoppers world

    nos zdrowia!

Thanks much for that info Slick. I street viewed the bldg in Google....never would've recognized it from my 40 yr memory. In my mind, I thought it was in a 2-3 story building.
