Default Yes, we were crazy in the seventies and eighties. Backwards racing.

Let me introduce you to some top entertainment from about 30 years ago. A very popular program in the Netherlands featured some crazy races. Backwards driving, caravan race and caravan slalom.

The backwards racing was mostly done with Daf automobiles. In those days they were quite abundant over here. But these days the remaining cars are considered classics and are cherished vehicles. These cars were unique. The Bugatti Veyron maybe the fastest car on the face of the planet, that only counts in the forward direction. Daf still holds the record going backwards!

This is all a result from the unique mode of transmission, the CVT, or Continued Variable Transmission. In other words, this car will go the same speed forwards as backwards, so in theory this car can move at a speed of more than 70mph BACKWARDS!

Now this is what you've been waiting for! Watch these cars make death defying jumps over the ramps!!

Watch the close call at 2'10"!!!

Detroit muscle in the caravan races.
