Automatic Lego Transmission using a Fly-Wheel [[Ugly Prototype 3)

A three speed linear gearbox with a flywheel governed gear shifter.

I think by "flywheel" he means the Watt's governor component circled in red. There are videos of other versions but I thought this the most interesting. When his hand enters the frame, I think he's trying to show how resilient the system is to perturbation rather than trying to correct any problem.

Emerging Technologies Enable More Amateur Near-Space Exploration

A father-son team from Park Slope decided NASA wasn't doing enough to document the stratosphere, and decided to take matters into their own hands. After testing their "19-inch helium filled weather balloon" in Brooklyn, Luke Geissbuhler and his son Max headed upstate and launched the device, complete with a camera, into space.

The two were able to track the device with GPS, and Columbia University Professor of Astronomy Marcel Aguera said the two were "very good but also very lucky."

Pretty cool what they did huh??

The less expensive the components become, the more people can afford their own missions. The more launches they make, the greater the chance of successes. The Internet disseminates those successes, encouraging others.

Truman Capote's "The Thanksgiving Visitor" was originally published in the November 1967 issue of McCall's, then in book form, then produced for television -- all within the same month. [[How'd he manage that?)

Written 11 years after "A Christmas Memory," Capote returns to the Monroeville of his childhood. Like "A Christmas Memory," we see Buddy's deeply intimate relationship with his dear Sook. Unlike "A Christmas Memory," we see the dark torment of Capote's youth.

Starring Geraldine Page as Sook [[she won an Emmy for her performance) and Michael Kearney as Buddy. Adapted for television by Capote [[who also narrates) and Eleanor Perry. Directed by Frank Perry.

This is a sequel to Truman Capote's A Christmas memory. It fleshes out Sook's salt-of-the-earth wisdom and innocent reverence for her precious cameo. She demonstrates turning the other cheek in a way rarely seen today. She lies to afford the guilty the opportunity to confess. The initial poor video quality improves a bit with time. Total duration 45 minutes.

To Kill A Mockingbird

The Tea Partiers need to reclaim their deserved dignity back from the Koch klan.
