Would Cycles be considered a fugue in both audio and video? [[I'm not very musically inclined.)

I love the way the teddy bears hesitate before engaging the automobiles.

I'm guessing there's some sort of OOPs influence over this piece since the teddy bear and automobile figures repeat so often yet vary behavior.

Many people have been reporting today that You Tube video links are causing their Internet Explorer window to close.

The issue is being discussed at Youtube's Bug Reports & Technical Issues.

Updating Internet Explorer from version 7 to version 8 has solved the problem.

    Firefox is another alternative.

    Default Bell Aerospace Rocket Belt

    Bell Rocket Belt

Cool, but it has only 30 seconds time aloft, max. I'm guessing any longer would require the pilot bear too much weight. What if that weight-bearing constraint were relaxed?

Is there some happy, one-man, medium between this VTOL and the Harrier, i.e., a minimalist, no-cargo, one-man recreational vehicle that can fly longer?

Default Sonic Boom Meets Sun Dog

Solar Dynamics Observatory Launch, Feb 11, 2010 HD VERSION A sun dog is a prismatic bright spot in the sky caused by sun shining through ice crystals. The Atlas V rocket exceeded the speed of sound in this layer of ice crystals, making the shock wave visible from the ground. The announcer can be heard in the video saying, "The vehicle is now supersonic."

    Default Extraordinary Gorilla Encounter

    "He wouldn't let me go."

http://aquavitafilms.com In the African jungle, conservationist Damian Aspinall searches for Kwibi, a lowland gorilla he hasn't seen for 5 years. Kwibi grew up with Damian at his Howletts Wild Animal Park in England. When he was five, he was released into the forests of Gabon, West Africa as part of conservation programme to re-introduce gorillas back into the wild. Now Kwibi's 10 years old, much bigger and stronger. Will Damian find him? Will Kwibi attack him?

Default The surprising truth about what motivates us

A critique of operant conditioning regarding tasks involving more than rudimentary cognitive skill:

The surprising truth about what motivates us
This lively RSA animation, adapted from Dan Pink's talk at the RSA, illustrates the hidden truths behind what really motivates us....
    www.theRSA.org

Regarding his "If you don't pay people enough, they won't be motivated." comment: Operant conditioning often neglects to account for a subject's skepticism that people evaluating their performance are just, e.g., The Galileo Affair.

"The best use of money as a motivator is to pay people enough to take the issue of money off the table." But then how can money influence behavior? It can't. That's the point. That then frees Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose to influence behavior much more effectively than money.

On Mastery: The potential to dazzle one's peers is a motivation superior to that of financial reward once basic human needs are met. E.g., this is what has always so effectively motivated hackers.

In the previous video the benefits of beer and cake parties at work might seem too unbelievable.

I've had some direct experience in similar situations. We were tasked to assess the performance of colleagues in Moscow, Russia who were assigned to design software tests. They had the shocking habit of storing up their work until they had enough to throw an all-night vodka party while doing the work! To our surprise, the results were both flawless and extremely productive! I still don't understand how that worked but the scrupulously objective results can't lie so I have to accept their validity.

Human motivation and performance are not yet fully understood. There remain mysteries to be solved.

There are some subtle rat-like creatures featured in the Cycles video. Is there some relationship between Cyriak and Banksy? Google finds 12k hits containing both names.

There seems to be a deliberate foreshadowing of the rat subtheme. I think Cyriak = Banksy.

    Good job!

Default Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I preferred the original version but this obviously had a bigger budget so this may appeal better to more. It presaged the ebook, babelfish, hair DNA samples, the galatic economy collapse,....

Total duration just short of 2 hours [[but you can skip the annoying 5 minute Japanese McDonald's ad, there's nothing meaningful there.):
    Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The similarities between the accent and attitude of Zaphod Beeblebrox and George W. Bush are disturbingly prescient although one of them has better hair.

    Default Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory" [[1966)

Total duration 51 minutes, tearjerker ending warning:
    Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory" [[1966)

Narrated by Truman Capote himself, this Emmy award-winning television version of Capote's "A Christmas Memory is a faithful recreation of his wonderful short story [[first published in Mademoiselle in 1956, later published in book form).

It appeared on ABC Stage 67 in December of 1966. Starring Geraldine Page as Sook and Donnie Melvin as Buddy. Adapted for television by Capote and Eleanor Perry. Directed by Frank Perry.
