Poll: Majority of Michiganders say Detroit is key to state's success

East side, west side, Republicans and Democrats, rich and poor and young and old -- Michigan voters overwhelmingly believe Detroit is important or essential to Michigan's economic health, according to a Free Press/WXYZ-TV poll.

But some feel more strongly than others.

Statewide, 72% of those asked agreed that Detroit is "essential" or "important but not essential" to Michigan's vitality; 26% said Detroit is not important or only a little important.
