Default Is anyone else having a problem with Google maps??

I know, dumb reason for a thread, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues.
I don't see street names, the plain road map isn't working, street view isn't working.....

Does anyone know what's going on? Are they finally updating it?

I don't know if "Google Earth" has the problems. I'm talking about plain ol' Google maps.

    Thanks!

Road names and other goodies are showing up in Earth, but I noticed a weird glitch in alignment of Street View images visible here with the front of the car, the pavement lines and the background building:

Thanks Meddle. I know you said Earth, but have you tried it in "maps" on the Google homepage? Would there even be a difference?

Just checked and googlemaps.com is working correct, including street names, street view, etc.

All those features seem to be working for me. I don't see any way to turn them off.

Perfectly good reason for a thread, IMHO.

Wait a minute. When I switched back from plain map view to satellite view the little streetview guy vanished!

Refreshing the page a few times made him reappear.

Unchecking "labels" made the street names vanish.

I never did like that Google Maps software. It has great features but it's suffering from arrested development.

At home I don't have too much problems with Google maps. At work is a totally different story. I notified the IT dept. at the office about the slow response of Google maps. As I mentioned the pc numbers to him he said those machines ar more than 5 years old and still running on shitty Pentium 4 processors.

My question was if I could chuck them out of the window immediately.... Well, not yet.

Bing maps is less slow than Google maps. But Bing doesn't have streetview as dense as Google has. Furthermore you can't search Bing maps with streetnames. Google can do that too.

That's normal. It's just showing the limits of our technology at the moment with 3d photo stitching. It's entirely automated It can't be perfect everytime.

I imagine laser scanning will replace all this eventually

Was on it ten minutes ago trying to locate the Gun Lake Casino in Wayland, and it was extremely slow....most unusual. Mayhaps they are working on it this weekend.
