    Default Rain and thunderstorms

    Why is a rainstorm so comforting at 4 a.m., yet so miserable at 4 p.m.?

    It is like going to the bathroom in the wee hours of a cold, snowy winter night, then returning to the bedroom and slipping back under still-warm blankets while still half-asleep, comforting to know that you don't have to be outdoors dealing with the elements...

    yet.

    But since I worked the graveyard shift for many years, it used to give me great pleasure to get off work in the morning, and leisurely drive home or on occasion go to a restaurant to have breakfast while watching all of the frenzied rush hour participants driving to work to begin another day of the rat-race. There was also nothing like taking care of outdoor and indoor household chores, running errands and getting shopping done on weekday mornings, with far less customers in the stores. But now fewer and fewer have any money to blow shopping or in many cases even any job to go to, so it is like that almost all of the time

    Comforting? Really? Never thought of it as such...the dogs start barking and wake everyone up, the kids get spooked. Not so comforting at 4am the way I see it.

    Flanders, I worked a lot of the graveyard shift also, and couldn't agree more with you.
