    Default Supreme Court Justices

Since there has been talk of Gov. Jennifer Granholm possibly being named to the Supreme Court, it got me thinking about all the former justices with Michigan connections.

As far as I can tell, the last person who was from Michigan was Frank Murphy, Mayor of Detroit, and Governor of Michigan, and was the last person from Michigan, to serve on the Supreme Court.

    Anyone have more info?

and your evidence of her "radical" status? oh, right -- you don't need any.

every review of her decisions shows that she is decidedly NOT radical

In bats world, all democrats are radicals, so what we would call a moderate democrat, he calls a moderate radical.

Yet the right blindly ignores the fact that she was first appointed by GHWB to a spot on the bench.

Granholm is a moderate, but I don't expect anyone on the right to objectively admit that, as they are indoctrinated to believe anyone who doesn't have a [[R) next to their name is a radical liberal and thus a horrible individual who deserves death.

I know many people who believe themselves to be Democrats who are, in fact, moderate, or even conservative but under a misaprehension. However, amongst politicians in office, Democrats are all radical. Why? Because if they are not, they are cast out by the party.

You could use the same logic on the Republicans, just look how they turned on McCain, even thought he sold his soul to the fringe right by choosing Palin as his partner.

In Michigan, remember how they turned against moderate Joe Schwartz and backed that religious nut Tim Walberg to victory?

This is clearly a party that wants nobody but neo-cons and religious fringe lunatics in its wings.

McCain was never going to be thrown out of the party [[as Lieberman was). That said, many did/do disagree with McCain for many of his liberal beliefs.

Lieberman wasn't kicked out of the Democratic party. He lost the Democratic Senate primary in Connecticut, and then declared himself Independent so he could continue to run in the general election in November.

But don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Right wing-nut neo's want a pre-programmed robot to be seated. It has to be an old, white, male, pro-life, pro-death penalty, pro-war, anti-labor, free market, saint., canonized by the vatican. It would be a plus if the robot was programmed in [[un)intelligible design theory at Pat Robertson's University and has coached at Notre Dame.

Lieberman was actively campaigned against by the DNC.

Yes but now he and Obama have joined hands and sang Cumbya, and all is forgiven.

Look at core values for the answer to your question.

What are the core values of the Repub's, the last stand for the angry white male?

They sure aren't the party of Barry Goldwater anymore...

Individual liberty. The most powerful core value of them all

except that they restrict equality to all equally...wouldnt that be true if a person was truly free to express themselves without another labeling designing a marriage covenant?

Yes...the problem is that marriage is linked to entitlements/benefits/taxes etc....no longer a matter of individual liberty.

then work to remove those benefits from ALL marriage. while we're at it -- no more deductions for your dependents. That is just forcing the childless to support your children

Obama nominated someone with views like his.
So here is Sotamayor, or should I use Sodomizer, a self admitted bigot who will most likely use the court for social engineering and not follow the constitution or prior decisions on some cases.
Too bad Jenny didn't get nominated, it would be nice to get her out of Michigan for good.

I agree Rb...we should eliminate that set of entitlements as well. Remember, it is not an optional item, it has to be phased out from the top, not just opted out of by a few who are forced to pay for everyone else regardless.
