    Default Recreation Center

I noticed that they are tearing down Finney High School and I sure hope that they keep Cannon Recreation Center.

I was wondering if anyone cam tell me if O'Shea Recreation Center was demolished or still there? Thats my real question team?

There are some photos of it on flickr from around Christmas time last year, just put O'Shea Recreation Center in the search field.

    O'shea is still standing: http://detroiturbex.com/content/park...hea/oshea.html

Cannon rec center is going to be torn down along with Finney, according to the RFP. It relied on Finney for power and heat, and I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe they built a newer center nearby. Shame, they just replaced the floor a few years back:

Cannon is a great example of brick-clad Mid Century Modern public architecture. Yeah, Detroit, just rip your treasures to pieces, erase those footprints. Predictable short sighted, within-the-box thinking.. We could be an architectural wonderland, but..... yeah, they got excuses by the bushel.
