Combat operations in Afghanistan have ended

On Thursday Jan. 27, 2011, President Obama stated that "Combat operations in Afghanistan have ended." He also added "......we will be out of Afghanistan by the end of this year".

Obama swaps Iraq and Afghanistan

Oopsie.......
Hit with a tough question about his administration’s policy in Afghanistan and Iraq on Thursday, President Obama made a muddled mess out of his plans for withdrawing troops from the region.

Obama swapped “Iraq” for “Afghanistan” when he answered a question on YouTube about whether he still believes soldiers need to die in the wars there.

“As I said, we will be out of Afghanistan by the end of this year,” Obama said, a fairly significant misstatement of his administration’s Afghanistan policy, which doesn’t call for a troop withdrawal until 2014. The misstep was picked up by the Future of Capitalism blog.

“We’ll have a relationship with Iraq in the same way we have relationships with many countries around the world,” Obama continued, correcting himself.

The YouTube moderator interjected, in an effort to clarify Obama’s statement. “So out of Afghanistan, as in ...”

Troops will begin to come home in July, but the withdrawal is to be spaced out as Afghanistan assumes control and responsibility, Proposed end date is 2014.

The major media and their pundit friends [[as well as many on this forum), pounced on every Presidential gaffe during the Bush years. All's fair in love, war and politics, but the double standard exhibited with this President is breath-taking.

And you can't use any standard language dictionary to define those terms. You must use a political speak dictionary. Unfortunately, political speak dictionaries are currently being revised - hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly...........

I'm curious what's happening to the Imperial City [[The Green Zone) now that we're outta Iraq? Have we given it to the Iraqi's?
