Default Gas Station at East Congress & Joseph Campau

Well, like the title describes, I'm trying to find out some information about a gas station/ repair shop at E. Congress & Jos. Campau. My father worked there about 1939 - 1940. I believe it was at this location, because I've got a newspaper photo, showing my father & a crowd of people gawking at an accident. I looked at the DTE aerial photos, from 1949, and it sorta looks like it may be on the south - west corner. Does anyone have any recollection of this area? Thank You.

In 1940, at 2760 E Congress [[southwest corner), was the Philip R. Phillips filling station. Sorry, no brand information available.

Philip & Virginia Phillips lived at 1005 Continental Avenue.
