The Wizard of Oz has been here, though some think the magic may be fading.

Where is this being filmed? Heard last night on the David Lettermen show Connie Britton, one of the stars mentioned she was currently filming in Detroit. Anyone have any info? I know Johnny Depp is also supposed to star in it. Thanks in advance

Johnny Depp isn't in it. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and others are. Disney film that "our" Sam Raimi is directing.

Pontiac. I remember there was a casting call for it a little while ago. But yea, one of the old car plants[[I think) off I-75 was converted into a sound studio or something. Pretty huge place.

I heard that it was being filmed at the new Raleigh studios at the old GM Centerpoint campus in Pontiac.

Here's some old GM online info on the Centerpoint story.

    Yep, that's the spot.

At first I thought it was the huge building on the left, but I guess it's the small building in the middle.

Considering the proximity of the Pontiac Silverdome to the new studio, and the few events held there, could that be used as the world's largest
indoor sound stage? Make's sense to me, we have the skilled labor and engineering talent. I hope re-structuring the tax credits didn't kill it.

Raleigh Studios pretty state of the art. Took a tour a couple months ago and was amazed at what I saw. These are extremely big stages - very impressive.

I know the change in tax credits did dissuade The Avengers from filming there, but the owners are still holding on. There's a couple hundred thousand square feet of office space adjoining the studios as well. It's being marketed to hair stylists, travel agents, CGI companies, etc. Disney's pre-production had taken up a good chunk of the space.

I believe there's a convenience store that opened up within the space as well... a Sav-On Drugs if I'm correct.
